Here are a few terms that we use across Steppit:
Courses guide your learners from one skill level to the next. Think of each course as a book. Courses are made up of units.
Units are sections in your course that contain groups of sessions. These can be used to divide your course into different topic areas so you can think of them like chapters in a book. If you run your course so that it unlocks on a weekly schedule, a new unit will unlock of your students each week.
Sessions are step-by-step lessons, experiences or projects that can be started and finished in one go (usually lasting between 15 minutes and 2 hours). Think of them like pages of a chapter. Sessions are made up of steps.
Steps are the major chunks of a session. Think of them like paragraphs on a page. Steps are made up of bits.
Bits are your building blocks of content – they can be video clips, audio clips, images or just plain text. Think of them like sentences within a paragraph.
Classes are what allow groups of learners to enroll on your course. Classes can have limited spaces, and when learners enroll, they can engage in the class area to chat, post photos of their progress and earn a certificate of completion.
Spaces are the number of seats available in your classes. When a learner enrolls on or buys your course, they will be taking up a space in the class.
Channels are where creators host and sell courses on Steppit. You can customize your channel to match your style.
Course landing pages are where learners go to enroll in your course. They can be accessed from your channel.
A 'session' is just like a lesson – these are the building blocks that make up your online course on Steppit. In your sessions, you'll guide your followers through a new skill, set of concepts or a task.
