DFMA was founded by Davinia Fermi to make professional makeup artistry training accessible to everyone. Her London school allows students to gain the valuable experience and skills required to flourish in the makeup industry. In 2019 Davinia knew she wanted to broaden her impact beyond the reach of her physical academy, opening doors to more clients from around the UK. It was a mission that brought her onto the path of developing an online course, and to the Steppit community!

Creating an online course allows Davinia to offer personalized mentoring to students from a distance, guiding them individually towards achieving professional success within the span of 6 weeks, all without the need for physical interaction.

With Steppit’s small class sizes, DFMA is able to coach hands-on makeup skills to people in their own homes and workplaces. To provide her students with even more support, Davinia gives comprehensive study materials, downloadable notes, and an industry-recognised DFMA certificate of achievement. 

Students have the opportunity to pursue their passions while accommodating their busy schedules, which is particularly valuable. These courses allow individuals to upskill at their own pace, making learning more accessible and adaptable to their free time.

With a platform as simple as Steppit, Davinia and her team simplified the process of course content creation and have the bandwidth via the smart technology to mentor hundreds of remote students to a high standard, as well as running an incredibly busy academy day-to-day.

I chose to do the online DFMA course in fashion, TV and Media makeup as I felt this was the course I had been waiting for. My career In makeup has mainly been theatre and entertainment productions working with wigs and theatre makeup.
